Investing in well-made, quality tools and supplies has been invaluable to our success as off the grid homesteaders. These are some of our favorite tools, supplies, and small businesses for growing food, building a house, caring for animals, homeschooling, and cooking from scratch.

Off the Grid Living
Berkey Water Filters – This is the number one tool on our homestead. We collect rainwater from our roof and then filter it through our Big Berkey for potable water. What I love about Berkey Filters is that they require no electricity, making them an excellent choice for off the grid homesteading and preparedness.
Sun Oven – We bake and cook in our Sun Oven solar oven all four seasons of the year, making vegetables, rice, roasts, hot water, and an incredible assortment of baked goods. When you click through this link, you will save $50 on an All-American Sun Oven, which is our favorite model. You can also read my How to Bake in a Solar Oven post to learn more.
